Is ‘Legends’ returning for season 2? Here’s what we know so far

As of May 8, 2026, “Legends” has not been renewed for season 2.

“Legends,” a British crime drama from Neil Forsyth based on a real undercover customs operation from the 1990s, premiered on Netflix on May 7, 2026. The series consists of six episodes and stars Tom Burke as Guy Stanton; it also features acting from Steve Coogan, Hayley Squires, and many others. The first season has a very positive critical reception (89% on Rotten Tomatoes), due to the excellent storytelling, talented ensemble cast, and the realistic portrayal of everyday civil servants who risk everything.

As for renewal, there has been no announcement from Netflix regarding a potential second season. The series is not announced as a limited series, making it possible for a season 2. Still, the core story from season 1 is nicely complete. It appears that creator Neil Forsyth has told the complete story from his source material (a novel, The Betrayer, by Guy Stanton and Peter Walsh).

Reports from industry analysts indicate that Netflix always looks at viewing data, completion rates, and global buzz before making a renewal decision. There is good early buzz on “Legends,” but official metrics will not be available until later. If “Legends” does get renewed, it could take an anthology approach, presenting new undercover operations or keeping some of the original character(s), such as Don, played by Coogan. If season 2 does get made, it may be available in 2028 at the same time as the anticipated release dates of other Forsyth projects (such as The Gold).

Fans hoping for more should watch and engage to boost its chances. For now, the first season stands strong on its own as a taut, adrenaline-filled thriller.
