Is Nemesis returning for Season 2? Everything we know so far

The high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse on the streets of Los Angeles is only just getting started. Following its explosive debut, Netflix’s slick heist thriller Nemesis has taken the streaming world by storm, rocketing to the Number 2 spot globally and dominating the Top 10 charts in over 80 countries.

Co-created by Power mastermind Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, the series has left fans desperate to know if the battle between the law and the criminal underworld will continue. Here is everything we know about the future of the series.

Will Nemesis Return for Season 2?

As of June 2026, Netflix has not yet officially greenlit a second season of Nemesis.

Because the series only premiered on May 14, 2026, the streaming giant is still in its traditional 28-day evaluation window to monitor overall viewership numbers and audience completion rates.

However, all signs point in a highly positive direction. The show is pulling massive streaming numbers, and the creators have made it abundantly clear that Nemesis was explicitly built for a multi-season run rather than a limited series. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Courtney A. Kemp admitted she actively fought against giving the freshman season a clean, wrapped-up conclusion.

“Netflix asked us to wrap it in a place where you wouldn’t need a second season, and I was like, ‘Bet, we’re not doing that.’ We knew that we did not want Coltrane to get caught.”

Projected Release Window

Because Netflix has not yet signed off on the formal renewal paperwork, a specific calendar premiere date does not exist.

However, during an Instagram Live broadcast responding to fans, Kemp revealed that she and the writing team are already actively working on the continuation and have a comprehensive “Season 2 blueprint” ready to go. If Netflix hands down an official renewal notice by the end of the summer, production could get underway later this year, targeting an expected release window of mid-to-late 2027.

Expected Season 2 Cast Updates

If the green light is handed down, the central ideological rivalry will require its two powerhouse leads to return to the canvas:

  • Y’lan Noel as Coltrane Wilder: The master thief who managed to slip away free but lost his assets and family infrastructure in the process.
  • Matthew Law as Lieutenant Isaiah Stiles: The LAPD Robbery-Homicide detective who has effectively lost his badge, his marriage, and his peace of mind in his obsession to catch Wilder.

Returning Main Ensemble

The surviving players of the L.A. underworld and the police department are locked to reprise their roles to deal with the fallout of the bloody Century City shootout:

  • Gabrielle Dennis as Dr. Candace Stiles (Isaiah’s estranged wife)
  • Cleopatra Coleman as Ebony Wilder (Coltrane’s wife, currently on the run)
  • Sophina Brown as Charlie (Ebony’s calculating half-sister)
  • Cedric Joe as Noah Stiles (Isaiah’s deeply traumatized teenage son)
  • Ariana Guerra as Detective Yvette Cruz
  • Tre Hale as Darren “Stro” Stroman
  • Jonnie Park as Chris Choi

Plot Details: “Business Becomes Personal”

The jaw-dropping cliffhangers of the Season 1 finale, “Zugzwang,” have left a trail of emotional wreckage that will serve as the immediate narrative engine for Season 2.

The story is set to shift into much darker territory for both leads. With Wilder Holdings raided and his assets completely frozen, Coltrane Wilder is officially back at square one. On the run and with a target permanently pinned to his back, he must return to high-risk heists to survive while tracking down his wife, Ebony, who is currently being held by her sister Charlie.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Stiles will enter the next block of episodes completely up against the wall. Having lost his badge and his family, Stiles is facing massive systemic and personal consequences. Kemp has teased that his obsession with Coltrane will only worsen, while his son Noah faces a dark, psychological path after witnessing the death of Amos “Nightmare” Stiles—setting the stage for a brutal, deeply personal chess match where both men have absolutely nothing left to lose.
