Is our PM better than God? Javed Akhtar’s explosive taunt, creates ruckus in debate with Maulana!
Famous lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar is in the headlines again. While talking about the existence of God in a debate, he compared the Prime Minister to God. During a heated debate with Maulana Mufti Shamail Nadvi in the show ‘Does God Exist’, Javed Saheb said that considering the evils of the world, our Prime Minister is better than God. This statement has created a storm on social media. Let us know what is the whole matter.
Heated debate on God in debate
In this show of Lallantop, there was a fierce debate between Javed Akhtar and Mufti Shamail Nadvi on ‘Is there God in the world’. Both presented their respective sides in the first rounds. Then the question came that if even a leaf does not move on earth without the will of God, then why are incidents like murder and rape happening in the world? Javed Saheb asked a direct question – So many children lost their lives in Gaza, why doesn’t God stop it?
Mufti Saheb replied that if someone is suffering in the world and God is not stopping him, it is because humans have got ‘free will’. He gave an example – like a doctor gives an injection to a small child, the child feels pain and he feels that the doctor is bad, but in the big picture it is right. Mufti further said, “Your and our ability to see is limited. We can only see the killings taking place in Gaza, but we cannot see how much compensation they are going to get for this.”
Javed Akhtar’s taunt on Gaza-Kalahandi
Javed Akhtar retaliated on this argument of Mufti. He said – What is the condition of this world? In Gaza, 45 thousand children, who were less than 10 years of age, died of hunger. Children die of diphtheria in Kalahandi. You pray that God does this or that. This means that God intervenes in the everyday lives of people and is watching all this. But when I see the world, no respect for it (God) arises in my heart.
Javed Saheb further said – What is God doing? You are powerful, omnipotent, omnipresent… You are everywhere. You were watching how the child was destroyed and you want me to worship you. Hey man, our Prime Minister is better than this, he does care about something! On hearing this the whole hall laughed. Although Javed Akhtar did not take Narendra Modi’s name directly, the sarcasm was clear.
