Is Priyanka Chopra making her Bollywood return with Aitraaz 2? Subhash Ghai shares insights
Fans have been eagerly awaiting newer updates since Subhash Ghai revealed his intention to work on a follow-up to his 2004 movie Aitraaz. The director recently revealed that, after 20 years, they intend to use a “new generation cast,” meaning that Priyanka Chopra will not be returning to play a major role.
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai shared in an open interview with DNA at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa that Aitraaz was launched 20 years ago and has been a long time since. Therefore, Priyanka Chopra, who gave a performance that defined her career in the movie, will not be in the sequel. Instead, a fresh plot and a stellar ensemble of actors from the next generation will drive the movie.
“It's been 20 years since Aitraaz was made. So we learned to work with today's contemporary artistes, new generation actors,” stated Ghai. (It's been 20 years since Aitraaz was released, so we must make it with today's contemporary artists and new-generation actors.)
He added, “Abhi 3-4 mahiney mein jaise story and cast lock ho jayegi. Hum full-fledged announce kar denge.” (Now, in 3-4 months, the story and cast will be locked. and then we will make a full-fledged announcement.)
Abbas-Mustan’s romantic thriller Aitraaz, which was released in 2004, focused on the idea of gender acceptance starring Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar.
