Hyderabad: : Gone are those days when we completely believed in honchos of movie industry said! It was like Gospel’s truth. Public mood was sought to be monitored and doctored to have a favourable impact through carefully promoted propaganda.
Let’s say a movie director or the protagonist saying the just released movie is a greatest hit and that it was grossing astronomical collections. But that was in the past. Such propaganda organisers are now facing a tough time from the most unexpected quarters – that too totally unrelated to the movie industry. The technological innovations, which society adapts to quickly, are now proving to the toughest game changer.
Take the case of movie ticket bookings online. Movie watchers need not stand in queues anymore to get a ticket, but they can do so from the comforts of their homes. If this was adding to the benefits of the movie producers, it is now turning out to be their biggest enemy now.
Look at what happened with Ram Charan’s Game Changer movie produced by Dil Raju and Sirish. The producers, apparently wanted to spice up things a little, when they went on record that the movie was grossing astronomical sums through ticket collections. But technology proved the hollowness of their claims.
Any common man wielding a mobile phone could check how many seats were booked and how many seats were empty and this precisely led to a situation where the talk about the movie being a flop got amplified further as the movie watchers made their findings go viral on social media.
Hashtags like#100crFakeForGameChanger and #GameChangerPosterScam have been trending on social media, with many questioning the accuracy of these claims and reacting with comments and reviews.

Doesn’t this remind one of the recent developments about toffee industry?
Toffee industry made millions with every shop handing over the 50 paise worth toffee in lieu of small change to customers.
The barter became so prevalent that toffee manufactuers were focussing more on their rivals and pumping up productions to rake in profits. But they too faced a strong adversary which hit their profits from most unexpected quarters.
Here again technology turned against them. The advent of UPI system where payments for any purchases are made to the exact price sounded a death knell for toffee industry. With every customer tendering exact change through UPI payments, it was toffee industry that got hit.
Who could have imagined the ubiquitous impact of technology in every field ?
