Blake Lively sued director Justin Baldoni, her co-star on It Ends with Us, on December 21. Baldoni is charged with sexual harassment and fostering a hostile work environment, among other workplace crimes.
In the case, Lively’s close friend Taylor Swift is named twice in a scenario planning document created by Baldoni’s PR business, TAG PR. Her name was allegedly used in the dossier to investigate strategies for targeting Lively. This strategy implied a connection between Swift and the story, saying that she bullied people for her own benefit by using feminism as a tool.
In another case, Melissa Nathan, the head of TAG PR, expressed concern about Lively’s relationship with Swift in a message. Nathan recognized the impact of Swift’s fan base and the possibility of social media criticism from the pop star’s followers.
According to the lawsuit, Baldoni’s group allegedly manipulated public opinion by using social media sites including Reddit, Instagram, and TikTok. According to reports, the crisis management plan featured tactics influenced by Hailey Bieber’s previous internet scandals.
Additionally, according to court filings, Baldoni’s team sought to influence public opinion by taking advantage of Lively and Swift’s friendship.
Since 2015, Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have maintained a strong friendship, and Swift’s album Folklore includes the names of Lively’s daughters, Betty, James, and Inez. The lawsuit claims that Baldoni’s staff saw this relationship as a chance to influence public perceptions as well as a risk.
In a public statement, Bryan Freedman, Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, refuted the allegations, describing them as untrue, ludicrous, and purposefully offensive.
Baldoni’s organization, WME, broke off contact with him in spite of these protestations. On the other hand, WME still represents Lively. Sony Pictures and Wayfarer Studios, meanwhile the film’s production firms were also implicated in the lawsuit for their failure to address the alleged misbehavior during filming.
