Route to Umananda Temple

Then why do people go to Umanand after Kamakhya?

Many religious and mythological reasons are believed to be behind this, including-

balance of shakti and shiva

Kamakhya is the goddess Shakti form, while Lord Shiva (Bhasmadhari Umananda) is worshiped in the Umananda temple. According to Hindu belief, Shiva is incomplete without Shakti and Shakti is incomplete without Shiva. That is why devotees believe that visiting Umananda (Shiva) after seeing Kamakhya (Shakti) makes the journey balanced and complete.

beliefs related to tantra sadhana

Kamakhya Devi is the main center of Tantra Sadhana. In the Tantric tradition, worship of Shiva is considered essential for the completion of spiritual practice. Umanand Temple is considered a symbol of the peaceful and salvation-giving power of Shiva from Tantric point of view, hence the devotees go there.

mythology

It is believed that Lord Shiva had performed penance in the form of Umanand at this place. It is also said that Goddess Parvati (Uma) pleased Shiva here, hence the island was named Umanand. For this reason, this place is also considered a symbolic place of the meeting of Shiva and Parvati.
