Is there bad smell coming from your mouth even after brushing daily? If you are suffering from these diseases, get checked immediately…
New Delhi:- Bad breath is a very common problem. Most people associate bad breath with bad hygiene or upset stomach, but many other reasons can also be responsible for this problem. Even this can be a sign of some disease. Sometimes teeth or gum diseases, some diseases like kidney problems or diabetes etc., changes in hormones or stomach or digestive problems can also be responsible for this.
The problem of bad breath is called halitosis. This usually happens due to poor oral hygiene. Doctors believe that in most of the cases, there is a lack of oral hygiene such as food particles remaining in the teeth for a long time, plaque or cavity on the teeth, tongue not being cleaned, swelling or infection in the gums and pyorrhea or other diseases in the teeth. Diseases are the cause of persistent bad breath. But sometimes bad odor from mouth or breath can also be a sign of some major problem.
Reasons for bad breath: Delhi's orthodontist Dr. Alok Parmar says that many medical and non-medical conditions can be responsible for bad breath, some of which are as follows.
Lack of hygiene: He says that it is not that only children do not clean or brush their teeth properly. There is also a large number of adults who do not know the correct way to clean or care for their mouth, tongue and teeth, and even if they know, they do not follow it. Such as not brushing teeth properly at least twice a day, not using floss, not cleaning the tongue regularly or not getting teeth checked regularly, etc. Due to which the dirt accumulated between the tongue and teeth and the diseases that develop due to them start causing bad breath.
Diseases related to gums and teeth: He explains that lack of hygiene in the mouth can cause bacterial infection or diseases of teeth and gums. Apart from this, plaque accumulated on teeth can also cause this problem. In fact, when plaque accumulates on the teeth, their outer layer starts getting damaged and the teeth start decaying. At the same time, if there is a cavity in the teeth or there is a disease like pyorrhoea, the problem of bad breath also starts.
Medical Condition: Doctor Parmar says that bad breath is also considered a sign of many diseases. Of which gastroesophageal reflux disease is quite common. Actually, in this disease, the acid produced in the stomach due to heavy diet or other reasons reaches the esophagus. Although this process is common in the body, but if it starts happening continuously in a person then it is kept in the category of disease. Bad breath is considered one of the main symptoms and effects of this disease. Apart from this, gastro intestinal infection i.e. any kind of infection in the stomach, especially Helicobacter pylori infection which occurs in the stomach and small intestine, diabetes, kidney disease, lung infection and liver related diseases, leads to bad breath.
How to prevent: He says that to prevent the problem of bad breath, it is very important to take special care of oral hygiene. For which it is very important to include some rules in your daily routine. Some of which are as follows.
Brush your teeth at least twice a day i.e. in the morning before eating anything and at night before sleeping.
Use dental floss regularly after eating anything.
If possible, use fluoride toothpaste and rinse with clean water after eating or drinking anything.
Always use a soft-bristle brush and replace the brush after every four months.
