Is This Fiat’s Comeback Car For India? Grizzly On Video

Recently, the video showing the Grizzly has been shared on YouTube by Fiat’s official channel. Instead of opting for a conventional product presentation, Fiat has shot a unique commercial for the Grizzly. It starts off with Fiat Global CEO Olivier François standing at a desk at a registration office to register a “newcomer.” During the conversation, the SUV’s date of birth is mentioned as “today,” while Fiat is referred to as its mother.

Soon after, the Grizzly is also introduced as the sibling of the Pandina and Grande Panda. The conversation then reveals that there won’t be just one model. We can note that the CEO explains that it will get two body styles. The first will be the standard Grizzly SUV, and the other will be the Grizzly Fastback.

In the video, someone questions whether “Grizzly” is too bold a name for an SUV. To this, the CEO responds that it perfectly suits the vehicle’s character. The video then highlights that although both SUVs belong to the same family, they have distinct personalities. The standard Grizzly has been designed as a practical family SUV, focusing on space, comfort, and everyday usability.

The Grizzly Fastback, meanwhile, has been designed for buyers who are looking for something more stylish. Fiat has described it as being longer, sleeker, and sportier while also offering even more space.

Apart from the design display, the CEO also explains the practicality of the Grizzly throughout the video. He repeatedly emphasises that the Grizzly family has been developed to offer everything customers expect from a modern family SUV.

The company says buyers can expect generous cabin space, modern technology, and comfort at the right price. A number of interior details have also been shown during the video, and they include a large 10-inch infotainment display, multiple physical buttons, a dedicated storage area for smartphones, and even a separate space designed to hold a handbag.

The video has also confirmed that the Grizzly will measure around 4.5 metres in length. This means that if it comes to India, it will be taking on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, and others. Also, one of the biggest highlights is the boot capacity. According to Fiat, the SUV offers more than 600 litres of luggage space, making it suitable for long family trips as well as everyday use.

Fiat has also confirmed that the Grizzly family will be offered with petrol, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. Buyers will also be able to choose between manual and automatic transmissions depending on the market. During the presentation, the CEO also mentions an output of 145 bhp. However, there are no additional engine or torque specifications.

Another interesting detail from the video is Fiat’s design philosophy. The CEO explains that it wants its cars to be recognised for their vibrant colours instead of blending into rows of grey vehicles. The video also reveals the emotional approach Fiat wants to maintain. According to the CEO, every Fiat developed since 2011 has been treated like one of his “babies.”

Although the Grizzly was recently spotted testing in Bengaluru, Fiat has still not announced any plans to return to the Indian passenger vehicle market. The company currently intends to launch the Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

The earlier test mule seen in India was undergoing validation work, as Stellantis operates major engineering and technology centres in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, and Hyderabad. These facilities play an important role in developing and testing global products under a wide range of road and weather conditions. Now, whether the Grizzly comes to India or not will be revealed in the coming period.
