Name is wrong in PAN card? Make improvements at home, the process is very easy

From opening a bank account to filing income tax returns, PAN card is essential. If the name on your PAN card is wrong, you may face many problems. To overcome this problem, the government has now made available a digital process. With the help of Aadhaar card, you can correct your name in some easy steps.

PAN card is used not only for paying taxes but also as an important identity card. Often a mistake is made in spelling while applying for PAN card or women have to change their surname after marriage. If this mistake is not corrected on time, there may be interruptions in bank transactions or government work. The good thing is that now this process has become completely online and paperless.

Documents required for name change
For online correction, it is most important that you have Aadhar card. If your Aadhar card is linked to the mobile number, then this process becomes faster. If you want to change your name after marriage, then a copy of the marriage certificate or some gadget is required.

Steps of online process

Visit NSDL Portal: First of all, visit the official website of ‘Protean’ or ‘UTIITSL’.
Select Application Type: Select ‘Change or Correction in Existing PAN Data’ option.
Fill personal details: Fill your name, date of birth, mobile number and email ID. After this, you will get a ‘Token Number’, save it.
Digital e-KYC: Select the option ‘Submit digitally through e-KYC’. This will save you from couriering documents.
Correct Name: Fill the correct name in the form in which the name is to be changed. If the name is entered exactly as it is in the Aadhaar card, the process will be completed easily.
Pay the fee: For correction in PAN card, a fee of approximately Rs 106 to 120 will have to be paid online (UPI, debit/credit card).
Aadhaar Authentication: Finally, enter the OTP received on Aadhaar linked mobile and submit the application.

What happens after applying?
Once you submit the application, you will receive an acknowledgement. A new PAN card is sent to your address within about 15 to 30 days. Also, the digital e-PAN is delivered to your email within a few days.

Changing name in PAN card has now become very easy. You can make this necessary correction by spending 5 minutes. It is very important to have the same name on PAN card and Aadhar card for future financial transactions.
