Ishan Kishan copies Shubman Gill’s style, trolls Punjab Kings for their fielding blunders

Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered their third successive loss of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Their latest loss was against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday night by 33 runs. With this latest setback, Punjab has seen their top spot in the points table taken over by Pat Cummins and his team.

It was yet another woeful day in the park for the Kings fielders as they continued to drop catches. Ishan Kishan was dropped twice with his score reading 9 and 18, and the 27-year-old didn’t leave a chance to poke fun at his opposition. Ishan took to his Instagram account and posted a few pictures from the game and captioned it, “Catch me if you can.”

All those missed chances saw the India international go on to score 32-ball 55 runs with the help of two boundaries and four huge sixes. The home team posted a mammoth 235 runs on the board from their 20 overs. Earlier in the day, Shreyas had won the toss and had sent the opposition into bat first.

Hyderabad bowlers rattle Punjab’s imposing batting unit

Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh came out to bat with their side needing 236 runs to win. Both opening batters were gone inside the first balls of the chase. Arya was out for one run, caught by Eshan Malinga off Cummins, while Singh was caught brilliantly by the skipper off Nitish Reddy for three runs.

Shreyas Iyer then fell to Malinga for five runs as the visitors were reduced to 23/3 after 3.2 overs. Marcus Stoinis tried to give some impetus to the innings with his forceful knock of 28 from 14 balls, but Shivang Kumar ended the charge when he dismissed the Aussie batter. Suryansh Shedge, fresh off his first IPL fifty in the last game, was out after scoring a brisk 25, while Shashank Singh was out after scoring just four runs.

Cooper Connolly’s century was the only saving grace

While the other batters were falling like nine pins, Cooper Connolly batted well to notch up his maiden IPL ton. The left-handed batter played brilliant shots and put pressure on the Hyderabad bowlers with boundaries at regular intervals.

The 22-year-old reached his fifty off 34 balls and took another 23 deliveries to reach the magical three-figure mark. PBKS ended the day with 202 runs on the board and lost by 33 runs, with Connolly not out on 107 from 59 balls with seven boundaries and eight sixes in his knock.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill trolled the Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings after his team’s success against them.
