Ishan Kishan gave a blunt reply to Kirti Azad on taking the trophy to the temple, said – ‘Ask some good questions’
After the historic victory of T20 World Cup 2026, the stars of the Indian team are returning to their respective homes. In this connection, when the team’s ace wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan reached Patna, the atmosphere was celebratory. But the celebration soon turned sour when a journalist sought his opinion on former cricketer and TMC MP Kirti Azad’s statement.
Even before the question could be completed, Ishaan’s temper rose. Interrupting the question, he said, “We have won such a good World Cup. You guys can ask good questions. What should Kirti Azad say? What should I say on this? Ask some good questions.” His tone clearly showed that leave alone getting involved in this controversy, he did not even want to talk about it.
The statement on which there is complete uproar
Actually, Kirti Azad had objected to some players of Team India taking the World Cup trophy to the temple. He wrote on social media platform ‘X’, “Shame on Team India. We won the World Cup in 1983, our team had Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Sikhs. We brought the trophy to our motherland India.”
SHAME ON TEAM INDIA! 😡
When we won the World Cup under Kapil Dev in 1983, we had Hindu Muslim Sikh and Christian in the team.
We brought the trophy to our religious birth place our motherland India Bharat Hindustan
Why The Hell Is The Indian Cricket Trophy is being Dragged.…

He further raised the question, “Why not a mosque? Why not a church? Why not a Gurudwara? This team represents India – not Suryakumar Yadav or Jay Shah’s family! Siraj never displayed it in a mosque. Sanju never took it to a church. This trophy belongs to 1.4 billion Indians – this is not a celebration of the victory of any one religion!”
Gave a befitting reply with the bat also
This controversy may have happened outside the field, but inside the field, Ishan Kishan’s bat roared a lot. He was one of the leading run-scorers for India in the tournament. Ishaan scored 317 runs in 9 matches at a stormy strike rate of 193.29, which also included 3 strong half-centuries. His performance played an important role in making India champion.
