ISL: Possibility of high scoring match between Kerala Blasters and FC Goa
Kochi, 27 November (HS). Kerala Blasters FC will look to continue their excellent scoring streak when they take on FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match at their home ground Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Thursday evening.
Kerala Blasters have scored in each of their last 16 matches at their ground. But FC Goa have an excellent record of success against them, having won 11 matches in the clash between the two, the third highest tally in ISL history.
Both teams have the same number of 49 clean sheets in the ISL and will try to become only the third team to reach 50, but the Blasters have not been able to keep a clean sheet in the last 19 matches against FC Goa.
FC Goa is placed sixth in the table with 12 points from three wins, three draws and two losses from eight matches, while Kerala Blasters are placed ninth with 11 points from three wins, two draws and four losses from nine matches.
Jesus Jimenez has scored in six consecutive matches as the Blasters win at home. Nouha Sadoui's entries into the penalty box (10 per match) also pose a threat.
The Blasters have scored 11 goals in the second half of matches this season, which is the highest in the league.
The Gaurs have played the most forward passes per match (160.4) this season. In fact, the Gaurs have completed 1,283 forward passes out of a total of 3,227 passes in eight matches played in 2024-25.
Armando Sadiku has been the leading scorer this season, averaging a goal every 73.4 minutes. Overall, FC Goa has scored 16 goals in eight matches.
Kerala Blasters FC's Swedish head coach Michael Stahre said about his role that he is trying to remain objective regardless of the outcome of the matches.
He said, “Winning gives energy, but what is important is that our game and results affect the mood of the players and fans. My job is to remain as objective as possible and maintain the energy level.”
FC Goa's Spanish head coach Manolo Marquez is confident that the players will have a good season. He expressed confidence in the Gaurs' ability for the upcoming match.
He said, “Most of our players are ready for tomorrow. Our team is very good. I have been saying since day one that we will have a good season and my opinion on this will not change.”
Let us tell you that both the teams have clashed 20 times in ISL. FC Goa and Kerala Blasters FC have won 11 and five respectively, while four matches have been drawn.
