The US military targeted the Iranian ship in an attempt to force it to return to Iranian waters. The maritime confrontation has intensified amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the withdrawal of British and Indian merchant ships. The IRGC Navy said the strait was closed after the US reportedly continued a naval blockade of Iranian ports, which Tehran considers a violation of the ceasefire. Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters has accused Washington of violating the ceasefire and committing piracy. The allegation came after a US operation targeted an Iranian commercial ship. The incident followed US Central Command claims that the USS Spruance intercepted and disabled the Iranian-flagged ship TOUSKA in the Arabian Sea.
