Hamas Commander Raed Saeed Killed: The Israeli Army informed on Saturday that senior Hamas commander Raed Saeed was killed in an attack targeting a car in Gaza City. According to the military, the attack was in retaliation for an explosive attack by Hamas that injured Israeli soldiers.

According to Gaza health officials, four people were killed in the attack while at least 25 others were injured. However, it has not yet been confirmed by Hamas or local medical personnel whether Raed Saeed was among the dead.

According to the Israeli military, Raed Saeed was the key mastermind of a major Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered a large-scale war in Gaza. The army also informed that two of its reserve soldiers suffered minor injuries in a bomb blast during the evacuation operation in southern Gaza.

An Israeli defense official said that the main target of this action was Raed Saeed, who is considered the head of Hamas’ arms manufacturing network. According to sources, Raed Saeed had previously been the commander of Hamas’s Gaza City Battalion, which is considered one of the organization’s largest and best-equipped units.

Death of a large number of civilians

It is noteworthy that in the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, about 1,200 people were killed in southern Israel, most of whom were civilians, while 251 people were taken hostage. Israel’s military operations in response to this have killed more than 70,700 Palestinians, including a large number of civilians, according to Gaza health officials.

After the ceasefire agreement came into force on October 10, millions of Palestinians have been able to return to the devastated areas of Gaza City. Israel has withdrawn its troops from several bases in the city and supplies of humanitarian aid have also increased.
