Israel-Iran War: Israeli attack claims death of Iran’s Defense Minister and IRGC commander
New Delhi: The escalating military conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran in the Middle East has heightened tensions across the region. Attacks and retaliations are ongoing in several countries, leading to a war-like situation. Meanwhile, Reuters reports that Israeli attacks have killed Iran’s Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Revolutionary Guards Commander Mohammad Pakpour.
According to Reuters, Iranian Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Revolutionary Guards Commander Mohammad Pakpour were killed in Israeli strikes. Three sources familiar with the matter provided this information. However, Iran has yet to officially confirm this.
Iran’s Counterattack
The situation in the Middle East worsened when the US and Israel attacked several key Iranian bases. Iran described these actions as a direct attack on its sovereignty and launched retaliatory strikes. Iran subsequently targeted US military bases in the Gulf region. Explosions occurred in Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Several countries activated their air defense systems. Civilians were advised to seek shelter. Many airports, schools, and government offices in the region were closed as a precaution.
The UN has
also received strong international reactions, with several countries, including France, Russia, Qatar, and the European Union, calling for de-escalation and a diplomatic solution. Calls for immediate intervention have also been raised at the United Nations. Meanwhile, claims that Israeli strikes killed Iran’s Defense Minister and a top commander of the Revolutionary Guards have further exacerbated the crisis.
