Israel played such a gamble that Africa was on the verge of breaking into two pieces.

News India Live, Digital Desk: Were there less wars and disputes in the world, now another “new front” has opened? This time Africa has become the arena, and Israel has set the spark. Israel has taken such a decision that the BP of not only Somalia but half the world has become high. There is talk of drawing a line on the world map. The issue is to consider Somaliland as a separate country. What is the matter of ‘Somaliland’? Let’s go in a little flashback. You must have heard the name of Somalia, a country in the Horn of Africa. Its northern part is Somaliland. Although it considers itself a separate and independent country since 1991, it has its own army, its own currency and its own system. But the problem is that the rest of the world has considered it a part of Somalia. No big country has given it the status of a “country” till date. What “bomb” has Israel burst? Recently, Israel’s Foreign Ministry indicated that it can recognize Somaliland as an independent country. Just what then! Somalia got enraged. For Somalia, this is like the “division of its house”. This step of Israel is a direct attack on the sovereignty of Somalia. Why is the world dividing into two groups? As soon as Israel made this move, lines of friends and enemies were drawn in the world: Somalia’s friends: Somalia is not alone on this issue. Turkey, Egypt, Djibouti and the entire African Union (AU) is standing behind Somalia. They say that Somalia is one and dividing it into pieces is wrong. Türkiye and Egypt are anyway angry with Israel, so they got a new excuse. Israel and Ethiopia’s faction: Here, Israel is seeing its advantage in Somaliland. On the other hand, Ethiopia is also increasing tensions with Somaliland because it needs port access to the sea. So behind the scenes a new alliance is being formed. What will Israel get from this? You must be wondering why Israel, which is entangled in Gaza and Lebanon, is getting into the trouble of Africa? The real game is of ‘location’. The location of Somaliland (near the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea), is very important strategically. Israel’s enemies—such as Yemen’s Houthis—are active around here. Israel wants to have a trusted “friend” of its own in this area, from where it can keep an eye on the enemies and take out its ships safely. In exchange for Somaliland, Israel can also build a military base there. That is, this is not just friendship, but a deal of “business and security”. Now what next? America and western countries are also a little worried. They fear that if Somalia disintegrates, there will be unrest in the region and terrorist groups (like Al-Shabaab) will become stronger. But Israel has thrown the dice. If it really accepts Somaliland as a country, then believe me there is going to be a big upheaval in African politics. What do you think? Should the region which has been running itself for 30 years (Somaliland) get the status of a country? Or is it the big countries’ own game? Please share your opinion by commenting!
