This drastic decision was taken when the incident of assault by soldiers on CNN journalists came to light. According to the report, the soldiers of this reserve battalion caught photojournalist Cyril Theophilos, strangulated him, threw him on the ground and also caused heavy damage to his camera. Journalists were also taken into custody. The Israeli military has confirmed the incident, saying it will now be investigated by military police.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described the reserve battalion’s actions as a ‘grave moral and professional failure’ Have agreed. The statement issued by the Army said that such behavior is completely contrary to the basic conduct and norms of the Army.
