Israeli Air Force targeted 20 military bases in Iran, destroyed missile launching hub
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) confirmed on Thursday that it had successfully targeted and destroyed critical military structures inside Iran, including a ballistic missile launcher that was readied for an immediate strike against Israel.
“It struck and destroyed missile launchers and defense systems in Isfahan and Qam areas of Iran,” the IAF said in a statement posted on the X platform. The Air Force confirmed that “Air Force aircraft destroyed a ballistic missile launcher in Iran’s Qam region, which was ready to be fired toward Israel.”
In addition to neutralizing the missile threat, the operation also targeted Iranian anti-aircraft capabilities to ensure freedom of Israeli aircraft. “In addition, a defense system that was intended to target Air Force aircraft was destroyed in Isfahan,” the statement said.
According to the IAF, these precision strikes are part of a broader strategic campaign to destroy the offensive capabilities of the Iranian government. “These strikes include efforts to target the Iranian terrorist regime’s fire systems and further strengthen the IDF’s air superiority in the area,” the statement said.
More than 20 military targets were targeted in the operation, reported by The Times of Israel and quoting the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin confirmed during a press conference that more than 20 targets were hit in the operation.
The Times of Israel reported that the attacks targeted two facilities in Isfahan where Iran stored advanced Ghadr ballistic missiles. Other targets included ballistic and cruise missile storage locations, as well as anti-aircraft systems, the IDF reported.
“We estimate that dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles have been destroyed by these strikes,” Defryn said. The operation further illustrated the IDF’s focus on weakening Iran’s missile capabilities amid regional tensions.
