Israeli PM Netanyahu’s big announcement, ‘The person who closed the Strait of Hormuz has been killed’
Amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a big claim on Thursday. He said that a senior Iranian military officer, who was playing a major role in the strategy to close the Strait of Hormuz, has been killed. According to Netanyahu, Alireza Tangsiri, the naval chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been killed in the Israeli attack.
Situation serious after closure of Hormuz Strait
This development has come to light at a time when tension in the area is continuously increasing after the conflict that started last month. Iran’s announcement of closing the Strait of Hormuz had made the situation more serious. This sea route is an important part of the global oil supply, through which about 20 percent of the oil trade takes place. Due to the blockage of this route for several days, there is a possibility of deepening of the oil crisis at the international level.
Netanyahu said in his statement that Israel is taking continuous and strict action against Iranian targets. He said that the commander who was targeted in the recent operation was involved in many attacks and strategic decisions. According to him, this action is an example of coordination between Israel and its ally America, aimed at achieving common military goals.
What did Israel Katz say?
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz also confirmed the operation and said that it was an accurate and deadly air strike. According to him, along with Tangsiri, other senior Navy officers were also killed in this action. Katz alleged that the officer was directly involved in a plan to target and blockade ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, several incidents of missile, rocket and drone attacks on Israel were reported from Iran and Lebanon. Due to these attacks, sirens started ringing in many parts of the country and people had to take shelter in safe places again and again. According to medical and rescue agencies, at least ten people have been injured in these attacks.
