Israeli raid on Kamal Adwan hospital in Gaza, prisoner released, director unknown

Ramallah: Israeli detainees have been released following an Israeli raid on Gaza's Kamal Adwan hospital, but hospital director Hussam Abu Safia has no clue, Al Jazeera reports.

Detainees alleged they were beaten, stripped and left in the cold for hours during interrogation, while Al Jazeera reported that they were detained and interrogated.

The attacks caused huge damage to the hospital

According to the correspondent, fires caused by direct Israeli attacks caused “considerable damage” to most of Kamal Adwan's wards, with local officials describing the raid as “barbaric”.

Concern of United Nations and UNRWA

The UN's World Health Organization (WHO) condemned Israel's “systematic destruction” of Gaza's health system, calling it a “death sentence for thousands of Palestinians”. At the same time, according to Al Jazeera report, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) urged for an “immediate flow” of humanitarian aid in view of the freezing death of children in Gaza.

Military activities continue

Meanwhile, two rockets were fired from northern Gaza at West Jerusalem, according to a military statement. “Attempts were made to stop it, and the details are being investigated,” Al Jazeera reported.
Israel had been attacking Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza for several days, eventually leading to a military raid and evacuation of the facility.

Israel's increasing military presence in Gaza

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar told local media that Israel would maintain a military presence in Gaza for the foreseeable future, Al Jazeera reported. “My working belief is that in the near future, only we can ensure our own security,” he said. “Although I opposed the disengagement (from Gush Katif, the illegal Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip in 2005), such plans are not included in the goals set by the cabinet,” he said.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that they operated at Kamal Adwan Hospital after suspecting terrorist structures and people involved in terrorist activities.

increasing impact of conflict

Since October 7 last year, at least 45,484 Palestinians have been killed and 108,090 injured in Israel's war on Gaza. Over the same period, at least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during Hamas-led attacks, and more than 200 were taken captive.
