ISRO-ASA Cooperation: ISRO and Australian agency signed an agreement to take humans to space and bring them back.

New Delhi. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Thursday said it has signed an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Australian Space Agency (ASA) to further strengthen cooperation in the two space activities. The agreement will enable collaboration between the two space agencies involving crew and crew modules for the country's first manned space flight programme, the Gaganyaan Mission.

The Indian Space Agency said in a statement that on November 20, DK Singh, Director of Human Space Flight Center (HSFC) on behalf of ISRO in Bengaluru and Space Capability Branch on behalf of ASA in Canberra. Jerrod Powell, General Manager of Space Capability Branch, signed this MoU.

ISRO has launched the Human Space Flight (Gaganyaan Mission) programme, which aims to fly a module with three crew members in low Earth orbit for three days and bring back the module safely. ISRO said that under this agreement, Australian officials will work closely with Indian officials. Through this agreement, assistance will be ensured to land the crew module back on Earth.

ISRO has said that India and Australia are permanent strategic partners and both the space agencies are working together. Both agencies are committed to exploring current and future collaboration activities.
