Big achievement of ISRO, successful testing of next generation rocket engine in Tamil Nadu…

Read Desk. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that it successfully conducted the ‘hot test’ of its semi-cryogenic engine power head. The test was conducted at 88% of the engine’s targeted thrust, a significant milestone in the development of a new propulsion system.

The test, conducted at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Tamil Nadu on June 24, showed stable operation of the engine’s power head at a thrust level of 175 tonnes, the Indian space agency said in a statement.

The successful test follows earlier tests conducted at 47% and 60% thrust, ISRO said. The agency said this new achievement will provide “considerable confidence” to move forward towards a 200-tonne full-thrust demonstration.

The semi-cryogenic propulsion stage is being developed to replace the L110 core stage on India’s LVM3 launch vehicle. Powered by a 2,000-kilonewton SE2000 engine, the upgrade is expected to improve payload capacity and operational efficiency. Liquid oxygen and kerosene-based fuel will be used in this.
