World Cup Rifle/Pistol Grenada: Sanyam’s best performance so far in the World Cup
The performance of Indian players was mixed in the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol held in Granada, Spain. In the women’s 10 meter air pistol event, Sanyam gave her best performance and made it to the finals, while in other events, Indian players did not get the success as expected.
Sanyam’s brilliant performance
Sanyam, a former Junior World and Asian champion, finished fifth in the women’s 10 meter air pistol final with a score of 178.9. This was the best performance of his career so far. She showed great control and confidence throughout the match, which helped her reach the final.
Palak also reached the final
Reigning Asian Games champion Palak also made it to the finals, but finished seventh. She was eliminated after the 14th shot in the 24-shot final with a score of 137.9. In this event, China’s Shen Yiyao won the gold medal with a score of 244.2.
Strong start in the qualification round
Sanyam scored 582 in the qualification round and stood third among 83 players. Palak made it to the finals by finishing seventh with a score of 577. Both Indian players Performed well in the qualifications, but missed out on a medal in the finals.
Vijayveer Sidhu’s better performance in men’s category
Olympian Vijayveer Sidhu was the best among Indian players in the men’s 25 meter rapid-fire pistol event. He scored 576 and finished 23rd overall. Whereas Ankur Goyal stood 29th with 572 and Neeraj Kumar stood 40th with 565.
Disappointment in 50 meter rifle event
Women’s 50 meter rifle 3 positions event India All three players could not progress beyond the qualification round. Surbhi Bhardwaj Rapole and Anjum Moudgil shot 587-587 and finished 18th and 19th respectively. Ayushi Poddar secured 27th position with a score of 585. A score of 589 was required to make it to the finals.

Ankur Goyal led the Indians with a score of 289 in the precision round of the first leg of the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event. Vijayveer Sidhu scored 287 and Neeraj Kumar scored 282. Now these three players will try to make it to the finals by performing better in the next round.
