Amid mounting excitement for Mohanlal’s upcoming police drama, tentatively titled “L366”, filmmaker Tharun Moorthy has given fans another reason to feel hopeful. The filmmaker, who reunites with Mohanlal after the humungous success of “Thudarum”, has always been known for his positive scribblings on social media and wholesome interviews.
In his latest post, Tharun expressed gratitude for having producer Ashiq Usman (“Thallumala”, “Anjaam Pathira”) on board, while informing followers that the team has completed 55 days of filming. The next schedule is expected to resume in May.
He also added they didn’t just make a film, they held it close, cared for it, and loved it like their own. “And in that journey, it was our team who became its heartbeat. Every member of the crew poured a piece of themselves into it , their passion, their sleepless nights, their unwavering belief. Together, we became more than a crew. We became a living, breathing force — one vision, one rhythm, one shared soul. That energy didn’t just surround us, it consumed us… made us think cinema, breathe cinema, and live it in every moment. This film carries all of us within it,” he wrote.
The film sees Mohanlal is playing a police officer after a long gap. For fans of his khaki avatars, that has always been special. Put Mohanlal and Tharun together, and you already have a deadly combination.
Let’s not forget, Tharun made his debut with “Operation Java”, a smart and stylish police thriller. He managed to balance realism and flair — and did it without any superstars. The film also released just after theatres reopened during the pandemic and still became a big box-office success.
The film’s female lead is played by Meera Jasmine, marking another reunion with the superstar after “Hridayapoorvam”, “Innathe Chinthavishayam” and “Ladies & Gentleman”.
Scripted by Retheesh Ravi, “L 366” gets even more exciting with composer Jakes Bejoy and cinematographer Shaji Kumar reuniting with Tharun after “Thudarum”. And this time, editor Vivek Harshan, known for “Manjummel Boys” and “Aavesham”, joins the team.
