Actually, in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, Karun Nair has scored 752 runs at an average of 752.00 and strike rate of 125.96 while batting in 7 innings of 8 matches. During this period, he has scored 5 centuries and one half-century. At the same time, Nair has been not out 6 times. After his incredible performance, many believe that he may be selected in the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy. At the same time, former cricketer Dinesh Karthik claims that the team has already been selected for the tournament. In such a situation, it is difficult for Nair to get a chance.
Cricket expert Dinesh Karthik on Cricbuzz said, “Karun Nair, it is incredible to see the form you are in. Even Mayank Agarwal is in very good form. But the best part is that this is happening at a time when the Indian ODI team is almost ready. Not many changes can be made in this. Yes, it is very tempting to bring Karun Nair into the team and I think he has earned his right to be part of the conversation. But I don't think he will be able to make it to the Champions Trophy team.”
Kartik said, “If he continues like this, then why not? “An in-form batsman who plays both pace and spin is a great player and I am very happy for him.” During this, the former wicketkeeper batsman has expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal's selection in the squad for the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy. Karthik said, “He (Jaiswal) has been rested for the T20 series against England. His tour of Australia has been quite long, which is mentally tiring for a young player. He needs rest. Playing 5 match series, test series is no joke.
He said, “I think they (selectors) have done the right thing. There is 100 percent hope that he will play against England in ODI and Champions Trophy. Don't worry.” Let us tell you that BCCI has not yet announced the squad for the three-match ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy. The team is likely to be announced on January 18 or 19.
