“It is hard to imagine an Indian team without him”: Ex-cricketer hails the most important player for providing the right balance in the ODI format
India will play a three-match ODI series against England before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan and Dubai. The Men in Blue will compete in Dubai due to security issues in the neighboring country. India are clubbed with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in Group A. The sub-continent team is blessed to have an all-rounder like Hardik Pandya, who has been magnificent in white-ball cricket. Former India player Sanjay Bangar feels Hardik is a must in the playing XI.
Pandya was sensational for India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and contributed to the batting and bowling departments. Hardik was one of the key reasons behind India’s win in the global tournament, as he was the man who brought the team back into the finale against South Africa.
He took the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, the two batters who were taking the game away from the Rohit Sharma-led team.
“It is hard to imagine an Indian team without Hardik Pandya. His penetration with the ball is amazing, and it looked like how he bowled in the T20 World Cup. He is bowling his quota of overs and provides the right balance to the team.
“The ground is big in Dubai, and his bowling will help India. India can play two specialist pacers, with Hardik being the third. The management can also add two spinners to the playing XI because of Hardik’s presence,” Sanjay Bangar said on Star Sports.
