‘It might be somebody…’: CM Punk guesses John Cena’s final opponent in WWE

New Delhi: During the Money in the Ban 2024, John Cena made a huge announcement that he would bid farewell to WWE in 2025. He also announced a tour that he would undertake the next year before hanging his boots on his storied WWE career. The legendary wrestler will take part in a number of matches that will see him partaking in the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and the highly anticipated WrestleMania 41 (his last).

It is no wonder that the current WWE superstars would be eager to challenge Cena during his farewell tour. CM Punk, who has held a fair share of rivalry with Cena in the company’s storylines, recently shared his take over who could be Cena’s last WWE opponent.

While speaking with 1035 Kiss FM, Punk said, “You could say Randy (Orton). I think some people would say me. Knowing John, I’m assuming it’s going to be somebody new, someone he can hand the baton to. So it might be GUNTHER, it might be somebody that he has his eye on that nobody else is really seeing. You don’t know and that’s what’s exciting about it.”

Cena’s rivalries

With Cena, Punk enjoyed a memorable rivalry as their storyline lifted Punk to another level with him defeating the 16-time World Champion to become the new WWE Champion. With Randy, Cena held quite a long rivalry. Both star wrestlers debuted in the WWE in 2002 and have made it a successful career so far. Randy, who is a 14-time world champion, is still making heads turn in the WWE.

Cena became so successful in the WWE that he became a mainstream superstar. He has turned to acting full-time and makes very few appearances in the company due to his film projects. Cena last competed on RAW after the WrestleMania 40.

He is also a two-time Royal Rumble winner and will hold high hopes of winning it for a third time in 2025.
