“It was more my daughters’ birthday than mine…” Virat Kohli speaks about his special birthday celebrations

The concept of Kings calls in one’s mind the most extravagant of celebrations. However, Virat Kohli remains humble as the star batter narrated how his family members played a role in his very simple birthday celebrations.

Regarded as one of the best batsmen of the modern era, Kohli is often referred to as the ‘best batsman across all formats’. Due to his outstanding batting skills, numerous records, and several match-defining innings, Kohli is regarded as one of the batting greats in the Indian cricket history.

He made his debut in the year 2008 and due to the nature of his career of which is quite expansive, he has accomplished goals that include gaining weighty batting averages, winning two world cup championships (2011 ODI Cup, 2024 T20 Ivan Golubev Cup), one ICC champions cup, twice crowned the cricketer of the year and whatnot.

This went on Tuesday as the 36th birthday of Kohli and during an event organized in Mumbai by Gaurav Kapoor when this talisman spoke about his birthday celebrations, the batter said that he simply went to his family and that was it.

“I doubt it’s a question of being wiser; I’m definitely older. I wish however, that I could go back and do some things differently,” which brought laughter to the audience said Kohli to Gaurav Kapoor who was present at the ceremony.

“Through all the years I think this was perhaps the most relaxed birthday. The setting was home with just Anushka (Sharma) and our two children. It was very low key.”

“It was more my daughters’ birthday than mine. It happens sometimes when you have children said Kohli.

The next time he plays will be there in action during India’s five-match Test tour of Australia on which Kohli will fly to Perth on November 22 for the start of the series. While playing Test Cricket in Australia, he has an exceptional average of 54.08 having amassed 1352 runs in 13 matches with a total of six centuries and four fifties.

The Indian, however, has made headlines for all the wrong reasons rather recently due to a disastrous performance in the series against New Zealand, which raised questions about his position in the Indian Test team.

Kohli had a miserable score of 93 runs at an average of 15.50 in the NZ series, while also managing to only ‘score’ 250 runs in 6 matches at an average of 22.72 for the year of 2024.

So, however, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy beckoning, the fit and seemingly balmy Kohli will have to dip into the reservoir of fighting aggression sooner than later to confront the ire of the Aussies back in their own den and help the team recover from the loss meted out to New Zealand.
