Indian cricketer Karin Nair, who is currently leading Vidarbha in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, revealed that he had faced his toughest time in 2022 when he lost a place in Karnataka side. Karun is currently in peak form, and has smashed five centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The star batter played his last international game in 2022, and has caught attention from the selectors.

Nair is the third Indian batter to have scored a triple century in Test matches. Even though he has scored a triple century, he got dropped from the Indian team after six games. Another setback was given to him in 2022, when he got dropped form Karnataka team as well. According to him, that day was the darkest moments of his career.

Nair has now opened up about his journey in the game, along with what happened after he got dropped. Nair even talked about how despite these difficulties he was able to make a comeback and deliver great performances in domestic cricket.

β€œQuite honestly I’m very fortunate to be able to be batting the way I am just now, I think I believe I’ve been someone who can play all around the wicket and play in all kinds of conditions so it’s been years of hard work and practice. The way my mindset has changed is to finish the game off for the team and whenever I’m set make sure that I go all the way and make the most of that innings,” Nair said in a video released by BCCI Domestic.

β€œThe toughest time for me was the end of 2022 when I lost my place in the Karnataka side. Mentally and emotionally, it was very challenging. It took me a few months to think about it and think what I should do going forward, so those few months really taught me an invaluable lesson to respect each day as a new one and respect each innings as a new innings to make sure I give it my all and make sure I score as many runs as I can every single innings,” Nair added.

Nair is currently featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy semifinal against Maharashtra, at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
