IT: Welcome to Derry, one of the world’s most anticipated horror series for digital video streaming, anxious to bring Stephen King’s famous Derry to life via the haunting legacy of Pennywise the Dancing Clown! Fans are eagerly waiting for Season 2, which will take a deeper look at the entity’s ancient cycles, terrifying scares, hidden knowledge of eldritch-type creatures, and the history of Derry being a cursed town, while continuing with the natural atmosphere and emotional impact of Season 1, which first aired on HBO in October 2025. As creators Andy and Barbara Muschietti craft their planned three-season backwards timeline, Season 2 will take us back to 1935 during the Bradley Gang Massacre, providing us with many more chilling moments and terrors told through the shadowed past of the town of Derry.

As of March 2026, HBO has yet to make an official announcement regarding a second season of the show. However, they are continuing to work on Season 2.

The first season premiered on October 26, 2025, on the Max service. According to various sources, it is possible that Season 2 might debut in October 2027 or January 2028.

Production may also start in 2026, but this has not been confirmed at this time.

Bill Skarsgård’s return as Pennywise (Bob Gray) has been confirmed. As of now, there are no returning cast members who have been confirmed yet.

Derry’s welcome mat and prequel to King’s It.

Creators and writers Muschietti and Barbara have written a three-season story of the progression or regressive history of Pennywise, with Season 2 taking place in the year 1935 (27 years before Season 1).

This season will be focused on one of the violent historical events of the town, called the Bradley Gang Massacre, which was seen in the book.

In addition, this season will continue providing information about the ancient origins of Pennywise and the cursed past of Derry.
