Arrangements were made to evacuate the passengers of the burnt coach safely and send them to their destination. A railway official said the fire was first noticed by the loco pilots at Yelamanchili. The train was stopped immediately. However, before the fire brigade could reach, the flames spread rapidly from the coaches and engulfed two AC coaches, B1 and M2.

The fog added to the disaster
As the fire spread, smoke billowed from the coaches, causing panic among passengers rushing to the platform. Many passengers could not understand what had happened.
