It’s Aditya Thackeray vs Milind Deora in Worli- The Week

The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena released a fresh list of 20 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly elections on Sunday, with senior leader Milin Deora being fielded in Worli against former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya Thackeray.

Deora is currently a Rajya Sabha member. A three-time MP and a former Congress leader, Deora joined the Shinde-led Sena in January ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He was given the task to handle Worli during the general elections.

With Shinde fielding Deora against Thackeray, Worli is all set to witness a high-voltage Sena vs Sena contest.

Other notable names in the Sena’s new list included former Lok Sabha member Sanjay Nirupam who will contest from Dindoshi seat in Mumbai.

Nilesh Rane, son of BJP Lok Sabha member Narayan Rane, has been fielded in Kudal constituency while Member of Legislative Council and former MP Bhawana Gawali will contest from Risod in Washim district.

Former BJP leader Murji Patel has been nominated for the Andheri East seat.

Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes Shinde-led Sena, BJP and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi—comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress—have intensified their preparations for the November 20 elections to the 288-member assembly.

The votes will be counted on November 23.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP was the single largest party, winning 105 seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena bagged 56 and the Congress 44.
