This work was being done under NHI, in which about two dozen laborers were engaged. At around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the workers were sitting on the roadside and eating food while working. Meanwhile, a high-speed white Creta car suddenly went out of control and went ahead, mowing down the workers.

There was chaos on the spot after this accident. Screams started echoing on the road. People present nearby and passers-by immediately informed the police and started helping the injured. Police and ambulance reached the spot and the injured were sent to the Medical College Hospital.

2 women laborers died

In this accident, two women laborers died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Lachchu Bai and Chenwati. It is being told that all the laborers were residents of Bamhori and surrounding villages of Mandla district, who were working in Jabalpur for their livelihood.

Police busy searching for the accused driver

Senior administrative and police officials reached the Medical College Hospital and inquired about the well-being of the injured. He instructed the doctors to provide better treatment to the injured. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the unknown car driver. To search for the accused, the area has been blocked and footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby is being scrutinized. Police say that high speed and carelessness could be the major reasons for this accident. At present the investigation of the entire matter is going on.
