Huge ruckus in Jabalpur after indecent remarks on Jain community, police lathicharged; 2 arrested
Lathi charge in Jabalpur: There was an atmosphere of communal tension in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh late on Friday night. During a dispute with a customer near the famous Badkul Hotel, allegations of indecent remarks on a particular community turned violent, after which the police had to use force to handle the situation.
The incident took place at the famous Badkul Suite/hotel located at Kamania Gate under Kotwali police station area. According to the information, a person named Rajkumar Jain had gone to the shop to buy some goods, where he had an argument with the hotel staff. Rajkumar Jain alleges that during the dispute, not only he was abused, but also allegedly indecent and derogatory language was used against the worshiped God of Jain community. The matter became worse when two people from the other party came with baseball sticks and started fighting.
Fierce protests and police intervention
As soon as the news of the derogatory comment spread in Jabalpur, a large number of people of Jain community and local businessmen gathered at the spot. The angry crowd raised slogans outside the hotel and demanded that the accused who made the indecent remarks be immediately handed over to them. The police feared that if they had not intervened in time, the situation would have escalated into ‘mob lynching‘ Could reach. However, when the crowd started going out of control and a young man started being assaulted, the police had to resort to mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

Legal action and current status
Additional SP (City) Ayush Gupta confirmed that it was necessary to use force to control the situation. During this uproar, a police sub-inspector Anil Gaur and some protesters were injured, who were sent to Victoria Hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case against three people on the complaint of Rajkumar Jain, two of whom have been arrested. At present, police forces of more than 10 police stations are deployed in the area and social media is being monitored so that any kind of rumor does not spoil the atmosphere. At the same time, Jain community has raised questions on the police action and demanded a fair investigation.
