Police got big success in Jabalpur, 7 smugglers arrested with 67 kg of ganja.
In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, police on Saturday arrested seven people with 66.69 kg of ganja. The value of the seized ganja is said to be around Rs 14 lakh. Seven accused including three women are involved in this case.
This arrest of ganja smugglers took place in the middle area of Jabalpur. The accused were traveling in two vehicles carrying ganja from Odisha. Giving information about this case, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Pradeep Shende said that Chhattisgarh number plates were installed on the vehicles of the accused.
The arrested accused have been identified as Saurabh Khare, Satyakala Khare, Kanchan Thakur, Sonu Burman, Lakhan Burman, Mamta Burman, Deepak Lodhi. This action was taken jointly by the local crime branch and medium police.
During the raid, police recovered ganja from both the vehicles. Initial investigation has revealed that this drug was brought from Odisha and there was a plan to consume it in the areas around Jabalpur.
The police have arrested all the accused and registered a case against them under the NDPS Act. At present the accused are being interrogated to find out how long they have been involved in this drug trade and who are their other associates. Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Shende said, 'We are taking strict action to end the drug trade.
