Jadeja enters IPL top 10 wicket-takers list – Tezzbuzz

Guwahati,  Apr 1:

Ravindra Jadeja etched his name further into the record books by becoming the ninth-highest wicket-taker in the history of the Indian Premier League, overtaking former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga during Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2026 opener here on Monday.

The milestone came as Jadeja claimed two wickets in the match, taking his overall tally to 172 wickets in 255 appearances in the tournament. In doing so, he moved past Malinga’s previous tally of 170 wickets to enter the top 10 list of leading wicket-takers in IPL history.

Jadeja’s record includes a five-wicket haul and reflects his longevity and consistency as a frontline all-rounder in the league over the years. In a tournament defined by fleeting brilliance and ever-changing heroes, Ravindra Jadeja’s climb up the all-time wicket-takers’ list stands as a testament to endurance, adaptability and quiet excellence.

Seasons have come and gone, teams have evolved, and formats have grown more demanding, yet Jadeja has remained a constant — reliable, effective, and often understated in impact.

To move past a name like Lasith Malinga, widely regarded as one of the greatest T20 bowlers, is no small feat, and it underlines the all-rounder’s sustained influence in one of the world’s most competitive leagues.

As he continues to add to his tally, the milestone not only cements his place among the IPL’s elite bowlers but also serves as a reminder that consistency, more than anything else, is what ultimately shapes greatness in a format driven by moments.

In many ways, this milestone feels less like a sudden achievement and more like the natural progression of a career built patiently over time. For Ravindra Jadeja, the journey to 172 IPL wickets has never been about dramatic spikes, but about steady accumulation — season after season, spell after spell, often doing the hard yards without the noise that usually surrounds headline-makers.
