‘Jag Ladki’ oil tanker reached Gujarat carrying crude oil from UAE, 6 lakh barrels of oil on board, many Indian ships are still stranded in the Strait of Hormuz

Jag Laadki Oil Tanker: Indian flag oil tanker ‘Jag Ladki’ has reached Adani Ports in Mundra, Gujarat. It has come from Fujairah Port of UAE by crossing the Strait of Hormuz. 80,886 metric tons (about 5.8–6 lakh barrels) of crude oil is loaded on it. With its arrival the oil shortage in the country will be removed. According to the Shipping Ministry, there are still 6 Indian LPG tankers stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, which are loaded with more than 3 lakh tonnes of LPG.

Amidst the increased tension in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, the Indian flagged oil tanker ‘Jag Ladki’ safely reached Adani Ports in Mundra, Gujarat on Wednesday afternoon. This tanker has brought 80,886 metric tons of crude oil from Fujairah port of UAE. Under the protection of the Indian Navy, this ship covered the entire route and reached Mundra. ‘Jag Ladki’ is a ship of an Indian shipping company and has an Indian flag. Following the increase in missile and drone attacks by Iran in the Gulf region in recent days, the Indian Navy has deployed warships to provide security to all oil tankers and LPG carriers under its flag.

Fujairah Port attacked in presence of ‘Jag Ladki’

‘Jag Ladki’ and all the Indian sailors on board have reached their country safely under the security cover of the Indian Navy. ‘Jag Ladki’ left Fujairah Port on Sunday and due to the Iranian attack there on Saturday, oil operations had to be suspended for some time. Before ‘Jag Ladki’, the first LPG tanker to come to India, ‘Shivalik’ also arrived at Mundra Port on Monday.

Indian ships and tankers stranded in Hormuz Strait

  • According to the Shipping Ministry, there are still 6 Indian LPG tankers stuck in the Strait of Hormuz, which are loaded with more than 3 lakh tonnes of LPG.
  • A total of 22 Indian ships are currently present in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Apart from 6 LPG tankers, these include one LNG tanker, four crude oil tankers, one ship loaded with chemicals and other products, three container ships and two bulk carriers.
