Three youths died by drowning after falling into the Scorpio pond in Kalipur, Jagdalpur, while the police saved four youths. Police have registered a case and started investigation into the accident.
Chhattisgarh: A tragic accident took place on Saturday (January 17) night in Kalipur area of Jagdalpur city. According to the information, some youth were returning back to Jagdalpur after playing cricket. Meanwhile, his Scorpio car went out of control and slipped off the road and fell into a nearby pond.
The accident happened so suddenly that the youth in the vehicle did not even get a chance to recover. The car started sinking straight into the deep water, causing panic among the youth sitting inside.
Police started rescue
There were not many people present around the pond at the time of the accident, but some passersby noticed the vehicle submerged in the pond. He immediately informed the police. As soon as the information was received, City Kotwali police station reached the spot. Police personnel started the rescue operation without any delay.
An attempt was made to take out the youth trapped inside by breaking the glass of the car. After a lot of effort, 4 youths were taken out safely. However, 3 youths could not save their lives due to drowning in water.
Three youths died, four injured
After the rescue, all the injured were immediately taken to the hospital. After investigation, doctors declared 3 youths dead. It is being told that all three died due to drowning in water.
At the same time, the four rescued youths suffered minor injuries. His condition is said to be out of danger and he is undergoing treatment. All the youth are said to be residents of Jagdalpur.
Police investigation continues
Police have established a case in this matter and have started investigation into the cause of the accident. In the initial investigation, the reason for the vehicle going out of control has not been clear.
ASP Maheshwar Nag said that the police is trying to find out whether the accident happened due to speeding, negligence of the driver or some technical fault. Further action will be taken on the basis of postmortem report and statements of eyewitnesses.
Bodies will be handed over to family members after postmortem
According to the police, the pond where the accident took place is located in the outer area of Jagdalpur and there is less traffic there at night. Due to lack of people present there at the time of the accident, it took some time for help to reach.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem. After the postmortem process is completed, the bodies will be handed over to the relatives. There is a wave of mourning among the families of the deceased after the incident.
