Jagdeep Dhankhar Resignation Reason: The English version of Shiv Sena Thackeray MP Sanjay Raut’s new book ‘Unlikely Paradise’ has created a stir in the political circles of the country. In this book, written during his imprisonment, Raut has made many shocking revelations about former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhad, former Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. In particular, the book directly alleges that the former vice president’s resignation was not voluntary but under pressure from investigative agencies.

Vice President Resignation: Scare of ED’s File?
Sanjay Raut has made some serious claims in his book. Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhad’s resignation last year (2025) was not just due to ill health. Sanjay Raut has said in his book that according to Raut, Dhankhad’s independent political functioning was disturbing to the central government.
As the book claims, there were rumors that the Dhankhad couple had sold their house in Jaipur and sent the money abroad. A file was prepared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) based on this information. Raut has sensationally alleged that the investigative agencies forced Dhankhad to resign on the threat of this file, after which he relinquished his post on July 21.
Pressure on Election Commission and story of Ashok Lavasa
Raut has also presented the ‘behind the scenes story’ behind the resignation of former Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa. Lavasa had sought action against Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah for eight alleged violations of the election code of conduct. Due to his unbiased stance, the ED raided his family and subjected him to continuous rounds of interrogation. Eventually, in 2025, he was forced to resign under pressure.

Relationship between Prime Minister Modi and Sharad Pawar
Referring to the political situation after the Gujarat riots, Raut has highlighted the role of Sharad Pawar. At that time, the opposition was preparing to send the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi to jail, but Sharad Pawar strongly opposed this. Raut notes that Pawar’s argument was that “it would be a wrong practice to imprison an elected chief minister because of political differences.”
Also, the book also claims that Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray played an important role in getting Union Home Minister Amit Shah bail in a legal case.
Background of the book
Sanjay Raut wrote this book during his imprisonment and its original Marathi version was published in 2025. The English translation of the book was officially published on Monday, after which the claims have now been discussed nationally
