‘Jai Johar’ echoed in the House: Lakshmi Verma took oath as Rajya Sabha member, enhanced the honor of the state by wearing a saree engraved with Chhattisgarh Mahtari and Bhoramdev temple.

​New Delhi/Raipur. Newly elected Rajya Sabha MP from Chhattisgarh Lakshmi Verma today took the official oath of membership in the country’s glorious Upper House (Rajya Sabha). On this historic occasion, he not only resolved to raise the voice of the rights of three crore people of the state in the House, but also presented the rich cultural heritage and identity of Chhattisgarh on the national stage in a dignified manner through his attire.

​During the oath taking ceremony, MP Lakshmi Verma wore a specially designed saree, which attracted everyone’s attention in the Parliament House. This costume completely represented the art, culture and heritage of Chhattisgarh. On the main part of the saree, the beautiful shape of ‘Bhoramdev Temple’, the historical and archaeological pride of the state and the grand picture of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’, a symbol of the deep faith of the people of the state, was engraved. Apart from this, the traditional Chhattisgarhi greeting ‘Jai Johar’ was written in clear letters on the border/layer of the saree, which was giving a strong message of simplicity, intimacy and brotherhood of the state.

​While paying tribute to the motherland with this special attire, Lakshmi Verma gave a clear message that she has appeared in the Upper House not just as a public representative, but as a true conductor of the soil and culture of Chhattisgarh. Expressing her feelings on this glorious occasion, MP Lakshmi Verma said, “Taking oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha today is a very emotional and supreme moment of my public life. The garment I have worn today is not just a garment for me, but it is the identity of my state, our glorious tradition and the true blessings of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership, state leadership and the godlike people of Chhattisgarh.

He said, every step I take and every voice I take in the Upper House will be completely dedicated to the all-round development of the state and the preservation of our cultural identity. This unique and glorious display of Chhattisgarh’s culture in the Upper House by Lakshmi Verma is being widely appreciated at the state and national level. This initiative has made every citizen of Chhattisgarh proud.
