Saint soldiers took command of security for 30 years

To save the palaces and temples of Ramlala and Shri Ramji of Ayodhya, the saint soldiers associated with the Nirmohi Akhara of Balanand Math of Jaipur had taken charge of the security for 30 years. Balanand Maharaj was associated with Nirmohi Akhara and seven Akharas were also formed to protect the Hindu society. Thousands of soldiers were stationed in Ayodhya under the leadership of Swami Govindanand. It is said that there were seven types of guards, under which soldiers on horseback would walk day and night on the five-kos Ayodhya Parikrama route. Soldiers with two weapons would have been ready at Ram Janmabhoomi. The soldiers associated with the puja would guard the Ram Janmabhoomi. There were cantonments of reserve soldiers in Hanumangarhi and Vidya Kund.

Many documents present in the legendary Balanand Math of Jaipur

There are many documents regarding this in the legendary Balanand Math of Jaipur. It is learned that Naga Baba used to change the guard every twelve hours to protect the Ram Janmabhoomi. The state of Jaipur had been bearing the expenses of the Naga cantonments of the Akharas. It is said that Bhishma Das Maharaj, the head of Garhmukteshwar, Gaya and Janakpur, used to send reports of Ayodhya military cantonment to Balanand Maharaj. During the time of Sawai Jai Singh II, from 1718 to 1731 and later from 1735 to 1752, Naga saints took charge of the security in Ayodhya.

Jai Singh kept sending expenses to the cantonments

It is read in history that Jai Singh kept sending expenses to the camps of Govindanand and Raghunath Das associated with the Math. After the death of Jai Singh, money continued to be sent from Jaipur to the military cantonments of Ayodhya till the time of Sawai Madhav Singh I and Sawai Pratap Singh. Radha Kishan and Sevak Ram of Jaipur lived in Ayodhya.
