Finally he decided to consult a good private hospital in Jaipur. They reached Jaipur with the young man and admitted him to the hospital. The young man was continuously suffering from stomach ache, so the doctors considered his condition serious and immediately started investigation. First of all, sonography or ultrasound examination of the young man was done. As soon as the report came, all the doctors and staff of the hospital were shocked. It was clearly visible in the ultrasound that 7 toothbrushes and 2 iron nails were stuck inside the young man’s stomach. These things had reached the stomach wall, which was very dangerous. If timely treatment was not done, these sharp and hard objects could have caused a hole in the stomach or spread infection, which could have even resulted in the death of the young man.

The surgery lasted more than two and a half hours

Seeing the seriousness of the case, senior gastro surgeon of the hospital, Dr. Tanmay Pareek, decided to operate immediately. The doctor told that it was not possible to remove these things through endoscopy (small surgery with a camera), because they were stuck deep inside and the number was also high. Therefore, open surgery had to be done, that is, operation by opening the stomach. This surgery lasted for more than two and a half hours. The medical team worked very carefully. With the help of anesthetist Dr. Alok Verma and the rest of the staff, Dr. Tanmay Pareek successfully took out all the 7 toothbrushes and 2 iron rods. After the operation, the young man was kept in the recovery room and his condition was monitored. Now he is completely fine and the complaint of stomach ache is gone.

Many such incidents have come to light

Doctors revealed that this young man is a little mentally weak. For this reason, he could not understand which thing was for eating and which was not. He used to swallow such things by mistake or without thinking. Such cases are rare in the world, but similar incidents have been reported in India before, where spoons, keys, nails or other metal objects have been found in the stomachs of people with mental problems. The young man’s life was saved due to timely reaching the hospital and the hard work of the doctors. A big danger was averted. After the successful operation, the family thanked the doctors and the entire medical staff wholeheartedly. This case once again reminds us how important mental health is and that even a common complaint like stomach ache should never be ignored. Had the investigation been done on time, perhaps such a major surgery would not have been required, but it is good that everything went well.
