This is a massive fraud’ Jairam Ramesh’s direct attack on the government on caste census, made big allegations

Congress Allegations On BJP: The political atmosphere has once again heated up before the upcoming session of Parliament. Congress on Sunday made serious allegations against the Central Government and said that the government wants to put the issue of caste census on the back burner.

Congress claims that the Modi government is trying to mislead the country by amending the Women’s Reservation Act. The party has raised questions about the government’s intentions, calling it a part of a large-scale fraud.

Jairam Ramesh made allegations

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that by amending Article 334-A, the government is arguing that it will take years to get the results of the caste census, whereas the reality is different. Citing examples, he said states like Bihar and Telangana had completed comprehensive caste surveys in less than six months. Ramesh alleged that the government is ignoring this fact and deliberately wants to postpone the implementation of women’s reservation by delaying the process.

Cited old statements

Jairam Ramesh also mentioned the old statements of the Central Government. He told that on July 20, 2021, the government had clarified in the Lok Sabha that a policy decision has been taken not to conduct census of castes other than Scheduled Castes and Tribes. After this, on September 21, 2021, the government had reiterated the same stand by giving an affidavit in the Supreme Court. According to Ramesh, on April 28, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accused Congress of urban Naxal mentality for raising the demand for caste census. However, on April 30, 2025, the government suddenly announced that the upcoming census will also include caste census, which the Congress described as a U-turn.

Data possible by 2027, still why the logic of delay?

Congress says that on March 30, 2026, the Census Commissioner himself told that due to the digital process, most of the data will be available only in 2027. Despite this, the government is now saying that it may take several years to get the results of the caste census. Congress alleged that this contradiction raises questions on the intentions of the government. The party says that the government is creating confusion instead of clarity on important issues like women’s reservation and caste census. These allegations of Congress have further intensified the political debate before the three-day session of Parliament. Now it has to be seen what response the government gives on this issue and in which direction this dispute moves in the coming session.
