‘We are not a broker country…’, Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s blunt reply on Pakistan’s mediation in the all-party meeting.
Middle East Crisis India Response: Amidst the ongoing fierce conflict between Iran and America in West Asia, the Government of India called an important all-party meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The meeting, which lasted for about one and a half hours, was chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, in which Home Minister Amit Shah, Foreign Minister S. Several prominent leaders and foreign secretaries attended, including Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
Sharp reaction to Pakistan’s mediation
During the meeting when Foreign Minister S. When Jaishankar was asked about Pakistan’s mediation between America and Iran to end the Iran war, he took a strong stand and said bluntly, ‘We cannot be a broker country’. The government clarified that there is nothing new in this role of Pakistan as it has been trying to play such a role since 1981.

Details of the conversation between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump were also given in the meeting. Foreign Minister Jaishankar said that PM Modi has clearly told Trump that this war should end because it is causing harm to everyone around the world. India has made its message clear that it is in favor of peace and against global instability.
The country’s energy security is completely secure.
Responding to opposition concerns over fuel crisis and rising oil prices, the government assured the country that India’s energy security is completely secure. The government informed that there are sufficient reserves of oil and gas in the country and advance booking has already been done for it. On the supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, the government said that the situation is completely under control and four ships are going to reach the ports in the next four to five days.
Reason for attack on Iran
In response to a question asked by the opposition on the reasons for the US-Israel attacks on Iran, the Foreign Secretary said that Iran had given assurance of not conducting nuclear tests but it seemed to be moving in the direction which led to these attacks. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stressed during the discussion that it is most important for the government to take care of the people of India.

Mukul Wasnik and Tariq Anwar from Congress, Dharmendra Yadav from Samajwadi Party and representatives of other parties attended the meeting. The government clarified that it is keeping a close eye on the geopolitical situation and is not under any pressure.
