Jaishankar’s global outreach on West Asia crisis, quick phone call from France to Iran in 24 hours; Know what happened?

West Asia Conflict: Amidst the ongoing fierce conflict in West Asia and increasing international tension, India has intensified its activities at the diplomatic level. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the Government of India has taken the initiative to increase communication and coordination at the global level. In this sequence, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has contacted foreign ministers of many important countries of the world within the last 24 hours.

During these talks, the rapidly deteriorating security situation in the region, the possible humanitarian crisis and its implications for global peace and stability were discussed in detail.

Diplomatic dialogue with France and Germany

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar spoke over phone with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot on Wednesday. He called this conversation ‘commendable’ Sharing on social media that the two countries have exchanged views on the West Asia conflict. It is noteworthy that this conflict started after the joint attacks on Iran by America and Israel on February 28, in response to which Iran has also launched missile and drone attacks. Apart from this, Jaishankar also discussed on phone with German Foreign Minister Johann Wedeful.

In view of the growing crisis in the region, Jaishankar on Tuesday held a detailed phone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. In this high-level conversation, both the leaders have agreed to remain in constant touch on the current situation. India’s move shows that it is trying to reduce tensions and protect its interests through direct dialogue with key players in the region.

Concerns over energy security and the global economy

Jaishankar also had a long discussion with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. The main focus of this conversation was the impact of the situation in West Asia on energy. Both countries recognized that this conflict has a major impact on global security and the economy. South Korea and India have agreed to maintain mutual contact on national security measures in view of the situation in the Middle East.
