S Jaishankar arrives in France to attend G-7 Foreign Ministers meeting, discussions on issues ranging from Ukraine war
Jaishankar France Visit: India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has reached France on his important two-day visit. Here he will participate in the G-7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting organized with partner countries. Upon his arrival at France’s Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay, Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot warmly welcomed him, after which the first bilateral meeting between the two leaders also took place.
G-7’s big outreach initiative
The meeting is part of a broader outreach initiative of the G-7 group, in which apart from India, non-G-7 countries like South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Ukraine have also been invited. The main objective of this meeting is to prepare the ground for the upcoming G-7 Leaders Summit and to discuss the current global crises.
Ukraine and maritime security on the main agenda
Several sensitive global issues are expected to be discussed in detail during the meeting:
Ukraine War and Reconstruction: A large part of the discussion will focus on the Ukraine war and its reconstruction, particularly on the funding system for demining and reconstruction on nuclear security and humanitarian grounds.
Maritime Security: Apart from this, maritime security will also be an important topic of discussion. Special emphasis will be placed on securing sea lanes essential to global trade, maintaining freedom of navigation, and making international supply chains more resilient and secure. In this regard, separate sessions will be organized and strategies will be made on possible threats and their solutions.
Improving Global Governance: Making the global governance system more effective and modern will also be considered in the meeting. The G-7 countries will work together to strengthen the multilateral system and improve governance structures in line with the changing global landscape, so that new and emerging threats can be better addressed.

According to officials, this informal meeting will not be limited to discussions only but its objective will be to achieve concrete and actionable results.
