What happened that night? How was SHO’s body found?

SHO of Kuthund police station, 46-year-old Arun Kumar Rai was found lying soaked in blood at his official residence on Friday night. He was shot in the head and a service revolver was lying nearby. The first information was given by constable Meenakshi Sharma. He told the police that ‘Sir has shot himself.’ But the suspicion deepened when CCTV footage of the same night surfaced. In the footage, Meenakshi Sharma is seen running from the SHO’s residence at around 9 pm and as soon as she comes out, she shouts loudly that she has shot herself.

Postmortem report increased suspicion

Superintendent of Police Durgesh Kumar Singh said that the postmortem revealed that the bullet entered the head from the right side and came out from the left side. Scientific evidence is being collected. Meenakshi has been arrested on the basis of the facts found so far.” The second major reason for suspicion was that whatever be the theory of murder or suicide – only Meenakshi was present in the SHO’s room just before the incident.

The whole story of illicit relations and blackmailing

According to police sources, there were “friendly relations” between Meenakshi and SHO Rai which turned into an illicit relationship. Investigation revealed that Meenakshi had made intimate videos of the SHO. On the basis of those videos, she was blackmailing the SHO. She was demanding Rs 25 lakh from the SHO for her marriage to be held in February 2026. She had threatened that if the money was not given, she would show the video to the SHO’s wife. The family also alleged that Meenakshi was continuously threatening and the SHO was mentally disturbed.

Scene of crime – dead body found inside mosquito net, revolver on chest

On the day of the incident, SHO Rai’s body was found soaked in blood in a mosquito net. A revolver was found lying on his chest – this also seemed suspicious to the investigating officers. Policemen of the police station told that they heard the sound of gunshot some time ago and ran to the SHO’s residence. There the SHO was lying on the ground and bleeding.

Meenakshi’s old connection with controversies

This is not the first case in which Meenakshi’s name has come into controversy.

It is said that in Pilibhit, a policeman was accused of rape and sent to jail. Later it was revealed that Meenakshi had also asked for Rs 25 lakh from him.

2. Firing in Bareilly (Baheri)

Even during her posting at Baheri Kotwali in Bareilly, Meenakshi was embroiled in a controversy where a bullet was fired due to a feud over illicit relations, although no one was injured. After this he was transferred.
