Jalore: Big success in ‘Operation Vish Sarjana’, 400 liters of chemical MD worth Rs 15 crore seized

As part of the anti-drug campaign being run in Rajasthan, the Narcotics Task Force has busted an illegal factory for manufacturing MD i.e. Mephedrone in Gawari village of Bagora police station area of Jalore district. In this action taken under Operation Vish Sarjana, 400 liters of chemicals and modern equipment were seized. The main accused Omprakash has been arrested.

NTF IG Vikas Kumar said that the team was already aware of suspicious activities in Bagora area but the exact location was not known. During this time, important information received from the scrap dealers gave the right direction to the investigation. Scrap dealers roaming in the area for the last 15 days told that a large number of empty chemical drums are being given away for free from one place. On the basis of this clue the team reached the factory and carried out the action.

About 50 kg of MD could be prepared from the 400 liters of chemicals seized, whose estimated value in the international market is estimated to be around Rs 15 crore. Interrogation revealed that the raw material was procured from various areas of Gujarat and Jodhpur through a travel agency of Bhinmal.

The former leader of the network is currently in jail and after that the accused Omprakash himself took command. He learned the techniques of making MD on the basis of internet and old experience. In the last four months, he had prepared and supplied about 10 kg of MD every 10 days and it is estimated that he had sold goods worth Rs 15 to 20 crore in the market.

IG Vikas Kumar said that in recent years, many smugglers who deal in traditional drugs like doda-chura and opium have now turned to synthetic drugs. MD is prepared in less cost, in less space and with more profits. Its increasing demand among the youth is also attracting smugglers. He said that this big action was possible with the cooperation of the general public and the NTF campaign will continue in the future also.
