The experienced English pacer, who retired from international cricket in July with 704 Test wickets, has entered his name in the IPL auction for the first time in 18 seasons. Interestingly, Anderson has never featured in any global franchise T20 league and his last T20 match was for Lancashire in 2014. Overall, Anderson has played only 44 T20 matches, 19 of which have been for the England team and has taken 41 wickets. (James Anderson registers for IPL auction 2025)

1574 players are competing for a total of 204 slots as each franchise can field a squad of maximum 25 players. Of these, 1,165 cricketers are from India while 409 foreign players are also included. Anderson will be among the other 52 English players signed for the auction along with fast bowler Jofra Archer, who is targeting a return to the league after battling injuries with Mumbai Indians. England's Test captain Ben Stokes has also opted out of the auction this year.
